Manny Pacquiao files P30M libel suit vs paper editors, reporter

Boxing champ Manny Pacquiao has filed a P30-million libel suit against the publisher and news staff of a daily newspaper, ABS-CBN News learned Tuesday.

Pacquiao lodged the complaint against Manila Bulletin publisher Hermogenes Pobre,editor-in-chief Jun Icban, sports editor Ding Marcelo and reporter Nick Giongco.

Jeng Gacal, Pacquiao's lawyer, said the complaint stemmed from Giongco's report on July 25 that described the boxer as a "compulsive gambler."

Pacquiao, the reigning World Boxing Council international superfeatherweight champion, will face Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera on October 6 in the US.
Well, Manny Pacquiao is a celebrity and almost everybody is keep an eye on him and they might see it as it is but I don't think being called a "compulsive gambler" is not worth P30-million pesos. Wow, that is a lot for just being called a "compulsive gambler."

Remember mysteriosa blogger's opinion way back 2006? Where her issue with Manny Pacquiao and fans opened up when she wrote something in his blog in response to former Manila Mayor Atienza's creating a life-size statue of the boxer, where she called Manny something like a Monkey. What if Manny reacted that time and filed a libel case worth P30-million? hahahaha... that's unrealistic.
