Mark Bautista and Dennis Trillo Whacking for the Title ‘heartthrob hitmaker’

For some years now, both have captivated the film and television viewers with their indelible presence and alluring boyish charm. Today, Dennis Trillo and Mark Bautista continue to soar higher with the release of their new albums. Both CDs show a lot of promise, but in the end, everything should still translate into sales. Whose carrier single will top the pop charts? Who will take home the gold and the platinum? Will actor-turned singer Trillo be the new heartthrob hitmaker or will singer-turned-actor Bautista reign supreme in a field that he has long dominated?

Five years ago, pop heartthrob Mark Bautista arrived on the scene with a bang. The young singer charmed the public with how he sneaked into a cargo ship from his native Cagayan de Oro just to be able to join the Star For A Night singing contest in Manila where he eventually landed a close second to Sarah Geronimo, now a big trimedia star. Bautista was immediately signed up by Viva heiress Veronique del Rosario, who saw in him the makings of a truly gifted musical artist.

Success came relatively easy for Bautista. He recorded two albums, staged sold-out concerts here and abroad, became a regular on the ABS-CBN Sunday show ASAP, played the title role in Lastikman and proved to be a competent TV actor as well when he played the jeepney barker Baste on Sarah, The Teen Princess and Gloria Diaz’s young lover Francis on Sana Maulit Muli.
